Sharp First to Achieve International Security Designation

This November, Sharp Europe announced that the Sharp Multi-function Printers (MFPs) with an embedded security option are officially the first machines manufactured to conform to the Protection Profile for Hardcopy Devices v1.0 (HCD-PP v1.0), one of the most recent security regulations for government and military offices.

What Does This Mean?

Well, it means that you can rest easy knowing that your MFP is incredibly secure. The Common Criteria are a set of certification guidelines that ensure that information technology is in line with the highest level of security from U.S and Japanese governments.

The HCD-PP is a new designation under the Common Criteria that aims to protect copier and printer security from being compromised. The designation indicates that Sharp’s MFPs are equipped to maintain the highest levels of security and adhere to strict government and military regulations. This designation was developed through collaboration with the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP) and International-Technology Promotion Agency (IPA).

JISEC, Japan’s IT security evaluation and certification system, is the independent laboratory that has designated Sharp with this security certification.

The following Sharp devices have received the certification: MX-2630N, MX-3050N, MX-3550N, MX-4050N, MX-5050NMX-6050N, MX-3060N, MX-3560, MX-4060N, MX-3070NMX-3570NMX-4070NMX-5070NMX-6070N.
